My trips to Future Shop always end like this
First off, I’m not a scientist or partake in anything science related so I do not know if this is proven or not to be true. But anyways, just a few minutes ago, I was talking to my girlfriend and I ended up saying “Time is a figment of peoples imagination”. This saying has been said before by someone anonymous but it got me thinking. Why are we so concerned about time? I believe that time affects what we do throughout our life and it affects the way we are supposed to act in every situation. There is a chance of anarchy in a situation like this but I have recently thought of the consequences and limitations we have with time by our side.
Children, for example. I read an article in Rolling Stone on Santiago Gonzalez who is an 13 year old exceptionally gifted kid who is enrolled in college. Other exceptionally gifted children don’t always get this chance. Time is affecting them because their age is sometimes keeping them locked in a box unable to come out until the right time.
But maybe there should be only one time people are focused on: the future. This is what I strive to focus on but sometimes, I fall back on the past or look upon my present self and time is haunting me again. It’s just something I thought about, I might continue later.
Hey, I have thought about this for a while and I’ve come up with the ultimate conclusion: I am a hipster. I know what you’re thinking at this point, “he’s just another ignorant douche complaining about pop culture” but try to hear me out.
Let me start off with a personal example. Before it’s popularity, I heard the Cee-Lo Green hit “Fuck You” and I really enjoyed it. I showed it to my friends and they ultimately shrugged it off, not caring about the explicit single from one half of Gnarls Barkley. A mere month or so later, not only my friends but the people around in general, were in love with this song and it became massively popular.
Now I might not be what you call the stereotypical hipster, but I have one key element: hating on popular culture. The phrase “I like this before it was popular” comes out of my mouth naturally. But the real reason of my example is that the people that partake in mainstream media are just as or maybe even more ignorant than the average hipster.
I don’t actually take the time to be the hipster it just happens, naturally. But I’m thinking that being a hipster might now actually be ones choice.
The reality is, culture has expanded over the last century and its what causes all people to be ignorant.
I wanna see if you people can find the irony in this rant.
